Kylian Mbappe is in line to become the most expensive footballer in history after Saudi side, Al-Hilal, reportedly tabled a massive bid for him.

The Frenchman is staring at an uncertain future with Paris Saint-Germain, with the star forward said to have been given permission to speak to potential suitors.

According to Sky Sports, Al-Hilal have made a world-record £259 million bid to sign the 2019 World Cup-winning star this summer.

The transfer fee will see the France international become the most expensive player in history.

It is understood that Al-Hilal's record-breaking offer is not the only one PSG have received, with several other clubs said to have approached the Ligue 1 side about Mbappe.

Neymar tops most expensive transfers

As it stands, Neymar Junior's record transfer move from Barcelona to PSG remains the most expensive transfer deal in the world of football.

According to Bleacher Report, the French club forked out an eyewatering £198mil to land the Brazilian ace from Barca in the summer of 2017.

Philippe Coutinho's transfer move from Liverpool to Barcelona back in 2018 is one of the other biggest deals in football history.

At the time, the La Liga giants splashed £146million to sign the Brazilian from the Premier League side.

Incidentally, Barca are also responsible for one other expensive transfer deal involving French star, Ousmane Dembele. The Camp Nou outfit paid £136mil to sign him from Borussia Dortmund back in 2017.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Saudi Pro League side, Al-Hilal reportedly submitting a world-record bid to sign wantaway Paris Saint-Germain superstar, Mbappe.

The Frenchman was left out of the squad for the pre-season tour of Japan on Friday and put up for sale after months of tension between him and the club's hierarchy.

Transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, has reported that Al-Hilal have submitted a bid worth €300mil in order to open talks with the Ligue 1 champions about Mbappe.
