  • The Super Falcons of Nigeria are preparing for the 2023 Women's World Cup
  • Coach, Randy Waldrum has accused the NFF chiefs of owing him and his players
  • The American also explained that he would have walked away long ago if not for his players

Randy Waldrum, the coach of the Super Falcons, has rubbished the Nigerian Football Federation Chiefs and asked them to tell Nigerians and fans where they keep a $960,000 World Cup grant from FIFA.

This comes with just two weeks to the start of the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. All is clearly not well in the camp of the Super Falcons.

The trouble started last month when Waldrum accused the NFF leaders of imposing some players on him for his final World Cup list.

However, NFF spokesman, Ademola Olajire dismissed the accusation, claiming that the 66-year-old American coach was actually livid with the football house's refusal to approve his request to bring in another assistant.

According to reports on Own Goal and Pulse, Waldrum explained that he would have long ago walked out if not because of the Super Falcons players.

Randy Waldrum blasts the NFF

"Up until about three weeks ago, I had been owed 14 months’ salary, and then they paid seven months' salary.
"Before that, a year and a half to two years, I had been owed for months before I was paid a little bit of it. Starting July, I’ll be eight months behind in salary.
"We still have players that haven’t been paid since two years ago when we played the summer series in the USA. It’s a travesty."

Sports Brief spoke with NFF spokesman, Ademola Olajire, who claimed that Waldrum is the worst coach to have handled the Super Falcons.

Ademola Olajire replies to Waldrum

"Waldrum is saying rubbish and is the worst coach to have handled the Super Falcons of Nigeria. The team is presently having a 15-day training camp in Gold Coast ahead of the World Cup and you should please ask him if he is the one sponsoring the trip? His entire dream is just to add World Cup to his CV."

Super Falcons set target

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how the Super Falcons arrived in Australia ahead of the forthcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria will aim for records at the tournament, which begins on July 20 in Australia and New Zealand.

Since the tournament began in 1991, the Falcons are yet to miss any edition, but they have only managed to reach the quarter-final on one occasion, at the 1999 edition in the United States.
