- Bruno Fernandes was quick to welcome Mount with a hilarious throwback pic
Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea, and Bruno Fernandes was the first Red Devil to welcome him to the club - albeit in hilarious fashion.
The Chelsea academy graduate has ended his 18-year association with his boyhood club, having joined at six years old and now moving to the rival club as a 24-year-old.
Sports Brief reported that Mount said his final goodbyes to the club with a video on Instagram, as he felt the fans deserved more than just a written statement.
However, eagle-eyed social media users noticed a gaffe which could prove Mount's farewell message was pre-recorded, as his tinted hair was not seen in pics from his recent medicals at Carrington.
Bruno Fernandes welcomes Mount
While Blues fans continue to feel hard done by, Man United midfielder, Fernandes, quickly welcomed the midfielder to Old Trafford with a hilarious throwback picture of the two locking shirts during a match.
He captioned the pictures 'Why did you take so long to sign? Welcome, Mason Mount'. This has got Red Devils fans gloating over the gesture, which appeared to be a not-so-subtle dig at the London club.
Mount is not the only member of his new team he had clashes with, as talkSPORT reported, with the 24-year-old also clashing with Argentine defender, Lisandro Martinez, last season.
The former Derby County loanee is expected to slot into a three-man midfield alongside Brazilian midfielder, Casemiro and Fernandes for United coach, Erik ten Hag, next season.
Mount's shirt number was also confirmed on his arrival at Old Trafford - he will don the iconic number 7 last worn by Cristiano Ronaldo.
