  • Football fans made an uncanny observation about Mason Mount’s farewell video
  • The England midfielder successfully passed a medical ahead of his move to Manchester United
  • He released a video on his social media on Tuesday, July 4, announcing his exit from Stamford Bridge

Cheeky football fans quickly pointed out one oddity in Mason Mount’s video announcing his exit from Chelsea.

Mount is all but a Manchester United player after passing a medical, and his move is subject to official announcement from United as of Wednesday, June 5.

In his video, Mount, who joined Chelsea at the tender age of six, said it was the right time to leave Chelsea.

"I feel you deserve more than a written statement so I wanted to tell you directly how grateful I have been for all of your support over the last 18 years,” he said.
"I know some of you won't be happy with my decision, but it's what's right for me at this moment in my career."

Mount’s hair

Despite the emotional nature of the video, some fans nitpicked Mount’s content, as they observed the midfielder pre-recorded his goodbye message weeks ago.

It was assumed so because Mount rocked blonde hair in the video, while his latest images showed he had black hair.

As expected, fans who made the observation were quick to chime in with hilarious comments.

"Lol just saw that Mount is blond in his farewell video, he was never going back,” one fan said.
"Crying, Mason Mount had that video in his drafts since 😭 coz that’s not the same colour of hair he used for his medicals today 😭"
"I want to know when did mount recorded his goodbye message coz yesterday he had NO blond hair."

Mount will be Erik ten Hag’s first summer signing as the United boss looks to strengthen his squad to compete in the Champions League next season.

As reported on BBC, Mount was crucial for Chelsea as they won the Champions League in 2021. During his stint at Stamford Bridge, he also won the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

United and Chelsea agreed on a fee of £55m plus £5m in add-ons, and Mount will reportedly sign a deal to stay at the club until 2028, with the option to extend by a further year.

Drogba’s message to Mount

Sports Brief also reported on Didier Drogba’s message to Mount after the midfielder confirmed his exit.

Drogba re-shared his farewell video on his Instagram story and said something the fans probably do not want to hear by referring to the 24-year-old as a 'prince'.

The Ivorian is famously referred to as King at Stamford Bridge, and since the club won their second UEFA Champions League in 2021, he has referred to some of the academy stars of that era as his 'sons'.
