  • The striker was sold to Chelsea due to the Catalans' financial troubles
  • Aubameyang's career nosedived since his move to London's blue side

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may no longer be a Barcelona player but has made it clear he still has a lot of affection for the La Liga champions.

The striker was spotted in the dressing room earlier this season after Barcelona beat Real Madrid in an El Clasico clash, which did not go down well with his current club side, Chelsea.

Football Espana reports the gesture was a way for Aubameyang to perhaps secure his return to the Spanish club. His latest social media activity may not impress the Blues either, with the striker showing off again his love for Barcelona.

Xavi’s side have been linked with a move for the French-Gabonese, although those rumours have quietened recently, with Vitor Roque seemingly the preferred choice instead.

Aubameyang is expected to be on the move again after a tough spell at Chelsea, but it is not known yet where he may play his football next season.

The forward is one of a host of Chelsea players linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, although it is unclear if Auba is interested in heading to the Middle East.

Chelsea signs Aubameyang replacement?

Aubameyang’s current club seems to be prepared for the Gabonese forward's exit, as they recently secured the signature of Villarreal forward and La Liga sensation, Nicolas Jackson.

As reported by SkySports, the 22-year-old Senegalese international completed his medical over the weekend after Chelsea met the release clause of just €35 million in his contract.

Jackson has already agreed on personal terms and will effectively become the first signing at Stamford Bridge under new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea completed the transfer of another forward, Christopher Nkunku, from RB Leipzig for £52mil last week, but that deal was agreed on months before Poch was hired.

It has been claimed Jackson will sign an eight-year deal, which would be in keeping with Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali's policy of young players on long-term contracts.

Aubameyang's regretful video goes viral

Sports Brief previously reported that a video of Aubameyang 'regretting' leaving the Emirates Stadium has gone viral, as Chelsea suffered a humiliating season.

Auba was part of the limp Blues squad that struggled all season, finishing outside the top 10 in the Premier League for the first time since the league was formed.
