Lionel Messi is picking up new hobbies as he winds down his footballing career, which has lasted close to two decades, with successes with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has won all accolades there are in football, including the UEFA Champions League and, most recently, the FIFA World Cup with Argentina.

Messi made his acting debut in the popular Argentina TV series 'Los Protectores'. Its story revolves around three soccer agents who have gone bankrupt and are in dire need of money, Sportskeeda reports.

The second season of 'Los Protectores' premiered on Sunday, June 25th, a day after Messi’s 36th birthday and features movie stars Adrian Suar, Andres Parra, and Gustavo Bermudez.

Messi, who joined Major League Soccer side Inter Miami after two seasons with Paris Saint-Germain, is presently on vacation in Argentina with his family.

Messi hailed as good actor

Meanwhile, Messi has been lauded for playing his role perfectly in the show, Essentially Sport reports.

Co-star, Adrian Suar has praised the acting abilities of the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner as he claims Messi brought out his character's fighter, personality, and leadership qualities.

The show’s first season was an instant hit in Argentina, with the second season featuring the ex-Barcelona star also expected to be a success in South America.

Luis Suarez taunts Lionel Messi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez share a special relationship, which was evident in the Uruguayan’s special birthday wish to the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Messi celebrated his 36th birthday on June 24 and was eulogised with a special family photo by his partner, Antonela Roccuzzo, to which Suarez offered a cheeky response.

The former Liverpool and Barcelona star commented under the post on Instagram, joking that Messi is getting into his senior years.
