Italian Serie A side, Bologna, are said to be monitoring Super Eagles striker, Gift Orban, as a possible replacement for Arsenal transfer target, Joshua Zirkzee.

The Nigerian striker, who currently plays for French Ligue 1 side, Olympique Lyonnais, had a good run during his time with Gent in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

The Super Eagles star has scored three goals in 16 appearances since joining Lyon in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old striker could be on the move in the summer, as he is drawing interest from Bologna, according to a report by All Nigeria Soccer.

Orban could consider a move to Italy as he is yet to displace former Arsenal star, Alexandre Lacazette, as the French club's undisputed starting striker.

Meanwhile, Bologna will compete in the UEFA Champions League next season and could lose one of their best players to top European clubs.

There is a high possibility that Zirkzee will leave the Red and Blues this summer following an impressive season in the Italian league.

The striker has scored 12 goals in 37 appearances for Bologna in all competitions this season.

Arsenal are not the only club showing interest in the Netherlands youth international; they could face stiff competition from AC Milan, Juventus, and Napoli.

The 22-year-old Dutch striker could even return to Bayern Munich, as the Bavarians still have a 40 per cent cut of any possible transfer fee.

Circumstances that would see Zirkzee represent Nigeria

Sports Brief also previously reported that Zirkzee expressed a desire to represent Nigeria on the international stage if the circumstances were right.

The former Bayern Munich forward outlined the specific scenario that would see him choose to represent the Super Eagles instead of the Dutch.

Born in the Netherlands to a Dutch father and a Nigerian mother, he is eligible to represent either national team and is open to shifting allegiances.
