Goal reports the MLS summer transfer market opens on July 5, so Messi's debut will not happen until at least next month.

Potential Messi Miami debut dates

Messi might make his Inter Miami debut on one of three dates marked on the calendar, with the Leagues Cup match against Cruz Azul in Mexico on July 21 being the most likely.

The American side will compete on the road twice during that time, taking on DC United on July 8 and Saint Louis City on July 15.

However, Marca has reported it is unlikely that Messi's debut would take place away from home.

Why Messi snubbed Barcelona

Meanwhile, Sports Brief reported on Messi explaining why he snubbed Barcelona despite his desire to be reunited with his former club.

He said the 'missing ingredients' in the Catalans' attempts to convince him made it difficult for an agreement that would not hurt others.

The 35-year-old continued to stress his dream was to return to Barcelona but ultimately pointed out the club's poor financial status as a major factor.

Messi joins Inter Miami

In related news, Sports Brief reported that Argentine legend, Messi will join Inter Miami after his exit from French champions, Paris Saint-Germain.

The former Barcelona forward is set to reject a more lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side, Al-Hilal in the Gulf nation's top flight league.

The Inter Miami deal is said to include collaboration with Adidas, Apple and the like, with Messi already the face of numerous brands to date.
