Former Netherlands and Ajax Amsterdam forward Quincy Promes is set to face legal proceedings for his alleged involvement in the smuggling of narcotics.
Promes is accused of trafficking 75 million euros worth of the banned substance in two batches, which were intercepted in Antwerp in 2020.
According to NOS, the 31-year-old's pre-trial hearing is scheduled for next Monday, June 6. The reports add that if he does not come to the Netherlands, the case "can be handled by the court without his presence, but with a lawyer authorized by him."
Additionally, Quincy Promes is also facing a charge of aggravated assault following the emergence of new evidence relating to a stabbing incident, per GOAL.

He currently plies his trade in Russia with Spartak Moscow after stints with Dutch sides FC Twente and Ajax while also turning out for La Liga side Sevilla.

Promes was arrested in June 2020 for stabbing his cousin at a family party, and the police started to tap his phone after that.
