According to The Sun, it looks increasingly likely that Mount will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after failing to agree a new deal with the Blues.

His contract situation is understood to have put a number of Premier League clubs on red alert ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, and Newcastle United are all believed to be keen on a move for the 24-year-old.

Mount favours Man United move

It has now emerged that the England international is "leaning" towards an Old Trafford move, per The Athletic.

This comes at a time United are said to be preparing to launch a £55million bid for the star midfielder.

Erik ten Hag is keen to bolster his squad at the end of the season and has identified midfield as the key department that needs strengthening.

Meanwhile, Mount's current contract at Stamford Bridge is set to expire in 2024.

The Englishman has reportedly turned down two offers from Chelsea to extend his contract.

Mount to miss United tie

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Frank Lampard has confirmed that four Chelsea stars will not be part of the contingent travelling to Old Trafford on Thursday night.

The four first-team players include Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell, who are currently sidelined with injuries.

Benoit Badiashile and Reece James will also not be involved.

The development comes at a time the Blues are keen to end the season on a high following their struggles this season.
