  • Carlos Tevez has called Paris Saint-Germain in the wrong for their treatment of Lionel Messi
  • PSG suspended the star for two weeks after he made an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia
  • Messi is set to leave the Parisians at the end of the season when his current contract expires

Carlos Tevez has lashed out at Paris Saint-Germain, claiming the French club has failed to give Lionel Messi the best treatment since he arrived at the club.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions recently punished Messi for making an unsanctioned trip to Saudi Arabia, forcing the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to apologise publicly.

According to the Daily Mirror, Tevez - who was Messi's teammate in the Argentina national team for 10 years - slammed PSG for their actions, insisting the French club should be the ones to apologise to the veteran.

"Messi makes us all humble. If you told me, being world champion, that I had to go and apologise for going on a trip when I had a day free, I would go back to Rosario and stay there drinking."

Tevez expressed irritation at the situation noting that Messi consistently put the club first

"It will be because of the World Cup or something else, but you can't treat a player like that who has led PSG to know him (sic)."

Messi, who joined PSG in 2021 from Barcelona, looks set to leave the Parisians after two seasons when his contract with the club expires at the end of the season.

Barcelona, Messi reunion is possible

Meanwhile, La Liga president, Javier Tebas believes Sergio Busquets’ decision to leave Barca will make it possible for Messi to return to the Catalan club next season, PSG Talk reports.

La Blaugrana want their former superstar back at Camp Nou, but the Spanish league body has reportedly told them they will have to offload some players for that dream to come true.

Messi is set to become a free agent in the summer, but Barcelona’s financial struggles could make it difficult for the club to re-sign him and still meet La Liga’s financial benchmarks.

Mascherano chooses Barcelona for Messi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Javier Mascherano has frowned upon how Messi has been treated in his time with Ligue 1 champions, PSG, and wants him to leave this summer.

The veteran penned a two-year deal with the Parisians in 2021, but the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has endured a torrid pair of seasons, with some fans now asking him to move on.

Mascherano - who played alongside Messi at Barcelona previously - has now called on his former teammate to make his return to Camp Nou and ultimately retire at the Catalans.
