Lionel Messi’s recent trip to Barcelona has got some of the club’s fans extremely excited, with some calling for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to return to Camp Nou.

According to Sportskeeda, some Barcelona fans have been videoed at the airport, passionately pleading for Messi to dump Paris Saint-Germain and make his fairy tale return to Spain.

Rumours have widely circulated that the World Cup winner could make a sensational return to Barcelona this summer, despite being on the verge of winning a second Ligue 1 title with PSG.

Messi has endured a torrid time in Paris of late and was most recently booed by the club’s fans in PSG’s recent win against Rennes on April 22.

Barcelona focused on La Liga

Meanwhile, Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandes stated the Catalan club was focused on securing the La Liga title despite being heavily linked with a move for Messi, PSG Talk reports.

La Blaugrana could win their first Spanish league crown in three seasons as they currently have the upper hand over rivals, Real Madrid, who are 11 points below them on the standings.

Barcelona could put one hand on the La Liga title as early as Wednesday night, as victory over Rayo Vallecano would extend their lead at the top to an almost unassailable 14 points.

Messi’s PSG contract negotiations stalled

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on PSG still wanting to keep Messi at the club beyond the terms of his current deal.

The French champions are still in negotiations with the player over a new deal but those talks have since stalled.

Messi originally signed a two-year deal with PSG, with an option to extend it by another season seeming unlikely.
