  • James Rodriguez has parted ways with Greek outfit Olympiakos
  • The former Real Madrid star has struggled for injuries, and the Greek giants ultimately decided to terminate his contract
  • Top management at the club were growing increasingly frustrated with Rodriguez, who also reportedly had astronomical wage demands

Former Real Madrid and Everton star James Rodriguez has been let go by Olympiacos with immediate effect, according to stunning new reports.

Rodriguez will not play for the Greek club again as the Olympiacos hierarchy decided against extending or seeing out his contract due to several reasons.

Having joined the club in September 2022, Rodriguez was given the number 10 shirt, which was previously worn by Rony Lopes.

But his 6 months at the club have been anything but easy, as a combination of injuries and inconsistent performances have led to the club’s bosses losing their patience with him.

According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, on Thursday, April 13, the club ultimately decided to terminate his contract.

“James Rodriguez has parted ways with Olympiacos. Contract terminated with immediate effect — as Colombian star leaves the club.” Fabrizio tweeted.

The steady decline of Rodriguez

Rodriguez burst onto the scene as a promising youngster who took the 2014 World Cup by storm.

After his incredible performance in Brazil, Real Madrid took up his services for £63 million which made him the fourth most expensive transfer in the world.

A successful spell at Real Madrid saw him loaned out to Bayern Munich in 2017 where he spent two seasons before being shipped back to Real Madrid.

By then, Rodriguez had lost his place in Zinedine Zidane’s squad, and this inevitably saw him move again in 2020, joining Everton on a free transfer in an interesting reunion with his former manager Carlo Ancelotti.

An underwhelming spell at Everton saw him leave the Premier League club to join Al Rayyan in September 2021 for an undisclosed fee. A year later, the club terminated his contract by mutual consent.

Dele Alli’s incredible fall from grace

Sports Brief also reported on Dele Alli’s sensational fall from footballing grace.

At the height of his career, the midfielder made a name for himself in the world of football as one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

However, nearly seven years after that memorable debut, Alli's football career is hanging by a thread.

Things seemed to take a turn for the worse for the midfielder after the arrival of Jose Mourinho.
