  • Hugo Broos remains as cranky as ever following another club-versus-country issue
  • This time, the Bafana Bafana coach aimed his fire in the direction of Major League Soccer side St. Louis City
  • This was over the club not releasing new acquisition Njabulo Blom

Hugo Broos can never be accused of not fighting for what he wants, needs or believes.

Bafana Bafana's Belgian mentor can now add Major League Soccer club St. Louis City to the latest list of his antagonists.

IOL reported that the Missouri-based side has not released Njabulo Blom for the upcoming international window, where South Africa will take on Liberia twice in a bid to confirm their participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. City did not give a convincing reason as to why Blom has not yet been allowed to join Bafana's training camp, which has left Broos in a foul mood.

This saw Broos appear on SABC Sport, where he did not hold back in his criticism of the American team. He is even considering taking action against City by hauling them in front of FIFA to explain Blom's absence.

Blom begins life in MLS

Njabulo Blom seems to have settled in nicely at St. Louis City in Missouri, United States of America.

The club shared a video on its social media pages of the 23-year-old in a bright mood, juggling the ball before a practice session with his new teammates. The club announced in January that Blom had completed a move to the team for an undisclosed fee.

The two-year deal also has the option to be extended twice after it has run out in 2024, for 2025 and 2026 respectively.

Blom wowed by new facilities

The midfielder recently departed Kaizer Chiefs for an MLS club in the United States of America.

While the Amakhosi are renowned for their state-of-the-art facilities, per Soccer Laduma, Blom shared on Instagram that facilities in Missouri were on another level.

St. Louis City SC sporting director, Lutz Pfannenstiel commented that it was the club's job to give the players the opportunity to be the best.
