Thomas Partey has been praised by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta after coming off the bench to help the Gunners cruise to a thumping win against Everton.

The Ghana international replaced Jorginho after 45 minutes with Arsenal leading 2-0 at the Emirates.

However, they were not entirely convincing as Everton missed the chances that came their way.

"We needed a magic moment there and Alex and Bukayo produced that, and then I think the team grew, especially with Thomas because Jorginho wasn’t feeling good today. When he came on he really gave us some presence and stability to the team and I think the second half was superb," Arteta said after the game, as quoted by Arsenal.com.

The 29-year-old Ghanaian was just making his second appearance after injury ruled him out for two weeks in February.

Meanwhile, Arsenal had a strong finish to the first half after Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli scored in the space of five minutes.

Captain Martin Odergaard extended the lead after the break before Martinelli added his second of the game.

Partey suffers injury

Sports Brief earlier reported that Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has pulled out of the game against Manchester City due to injury.

The Ghana international is reported to have suffered a muscular injury and will be out of the game tonight at the Emirates Stadium.

Partey's absence means winter signing, Jorginho starts following Mohamed El Neny's injury.

Partey to miss Everton trip

Arsenal could be without influential midfielder Thomas Partey for their trip to Merseyside to face Everton in the English Premier League.

The 29-year-old picked a knock during the FA Cup clash against Manchester City last week and although it not a serious injury, the Ghanaian midfielder is yet to train with the team.

Partey has not been entirely ruled out of the match on Saturday, but manager Mikel Arteta is unsure if he will pass a lateness fitness test for the match.
