  • Thomas Partey will miss Arsenal's game against Manchester City
  • The Ghanaian midfielder suffered an injury hours before the game
  • Arsenal need to win or draw to keep the place at the top of the table

Thomas Partey is expected to miss the top of the table English Premier League clash between Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Ghana international is reported to have suffered a muscular injury and will be out of the game tonight at the Emirates Stadium.

Partey's absence means winter signing, Jorginho starts following Mohamed El Neny's injury.

The former Atletico Madrid player had trained on Tuesday with manager, Mikel Arteta stating his squad is fully fit, according to the Athletic.

However, the latest setback leaves the Spanish coach with decisions to make before the game tonight.

The 29-year-old has been key to Arsenal's form this season, as the Gunners sit top of the table with a five-point lead over City.

Partey formed a strong partnership in the midfield alongside Granit Xhaka and Martin Odergaard.

Arsenal have only lost a game in the Premier League with the Ghana international playing.

Partey doubtful for Everton game

Sports Brief also reported on Arsenal likely being without Partey for their trip to Merseyside to face Everton in the English Premier League.

The 29-year-old picked up a knock during the FA Cup clash against Man City last week and although not a serious injury, the Ghanaian is yet to train with the team.

Partey has not been entirely ruled out of the match on Saturday, but Arteta is unsure if the midfielder will pass a late fitness test for the match.

Arsenal fans worried about Partey

The first meeting of the season between Man City and Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium did not quite hit the highs that would have been expected by fans of the two teams.

Nathan Ake produced the winning goal after Julian Alvarez's long-range shot came off the foot of the post. The defender was played in by Jack Grealish and he slotted it home on his weaker right foot.

Arsenal's late surge could not produce results but more worrying for the Gunners fans was the substitution of star midfielder, Partey at half-time, which was later confirmed to have been a precaution.
