It is understood the Spain-based tournament allows teams to bring in a 12th player, often a retired sports star or celebrity, every week.

A number of football icons have featured in the tournament in the past, with the likes of Iker Casillas, Kun Aguero, and Xavi all involved.

Ronaldinho's side suffer defeat

This week was Ronaldinho's turn to shine, with the former AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain ace involved.

However, The Mirror reports he was unable to inspire his side to victory during the eighth round of the competition against Pio FC.

Ronaldinho's Porcinos FC went on to record a 3-1 defeat, with the Brazilian handed an opportunity to score after his side won a penalty.

This was not the first time the 42-year-old had come out of retirement, having previously returned to the game in 2018 for a short spell with Indian side, Goa 5.

Inside Pique's Kings League

Sports Brief also reported on the Kings League, a Spanish seven-a-side football league established in 2022 by former defender, Piqué.

The league features different rules to traditional football regulations, with the inaugural season of the league starting on January 1, 2023.

In its 40-minute matches, draws are forbidden, every goal is celebrated with pyrotechnics and fans have seen Aguero returning to football.
