  • Manchester United have been a much-changed side since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo late last year
  • The Red Devils are outside contenders for the Premier League title and are five points behind Arsenal
  • An interesting context table has revealed how things stand since Ronaldo’s second EPL departure

It goes without question that Manchester United have been a better side in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club late last year.

The veteran's departure was quite unceremonious, as his contract had to be terminated by mutual consent after he slammed the Red Devils in an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.

Not only did Ronaldo - now 38 - accuse United of betraying him, he also blatantly stated he had no respect for manager, Erik ten Hag.

When was Ronaldo’s last game?

As reported by The Sun, Ronaldo’s last game for Man United was in the humiliating 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on November 6 last year.

But since his departure, the Red Devils appear much rejuvenated and somehow have an identity under Ten Hag.

This is highlighted by their performances since the end of the 2022 Cup, garnering an impressive 23 points since that time.

To put it into context, these are more points accrued than any other team in the division since the close of the World Cup.

In other words, a table putting into consideration results from after the World Cup sees United in first place, while Thomas Frank’s Brentford comes in second with an impressive 18 points.

Current league leaders, Arsenal are also not doing too bad as they sit third with 17 points, while Manchester City round off the top four with 16 points.

Pep Guardiola’s side will have the chance to claim top spot on Wednesday for the first time in months when they visit the Emirates Stadium in a crunch top-of-the-table clash.

Ronaldo pens message to Georgina

Sports Brief also reported on Ronaldo’s lovely message to his partner, Georgina Rodriguez on Valentine’s Day.

The couple is still going strong, with the Portuguese superstar deciding to show his appreciation on February 14.

Ronaldo posted a loved-up photo of himself and Rodriguez on social media with a caption noting how lucky he is.
