Barcelona icon Luis Suarez had a dream debut for his new Brazilian club Gremio on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old netted a first half hattrick to help the Porto Alegre-based club to win the Recopa Gaucha Super Cup.

The Uruguay international bagged three goals inside 37 minutes as they recorded a resounding 4-1 over Sao Luiz in the curtain-raiser for the new season.

In a video posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, Suarez's goals included a lob over the goalkeeper and a stinging volley as e starts his career in Brazil in the best possible way.

The former Atletico Madrid and Liverpool forward was hooked off in the 59th minute to the delight of the fans at the Arena Gremio.

Suarez last scored a first half hattrick in December 2013 when Liverpool thumped Norwich 5-1 in the Premier League.

60,000 fans welcome Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez got one of the biggest player unveilings in South American football history after the former Barcelona player was unveiled by Brazilian side Gremio.

According to Goal, over 60,000 supporters witnessed Suarez’s unveiling at the Arena do Gremio as he was presented in front of the fans on Wednesday, January 4.

The supporters gave the former Liverpool and Ajax forward a rousing welcome as Suarez walked out of the tunnel waving and applauding to his new fanbase.

Luis Suarez agrees to join new club

Earlier, Sports Brief reported former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez’s next destination has been confirmed as he is set to join Brazilian club Gremio in the coming days.

Suarez, 35, has reportedly had a verbal agreement to join the club, with his current contract with Uruguay side Nacional running out.

If the deal comes to pass, Suarez will link up with former teammate Lucas Leiva, who went back to his native Brazil after leaving Lazio in the summer.
