60,000 Fans Welcome Ex Barca Star Luis Suarez During Gremio Unveiling

Luis Suarez got one of the biggest player unveilings in South American football history after the former Barcelona player was unveiled by Brazilian side Gremio.

The 35-year-old forward recently penned a two-year deal with the newly promoted outfit after leaving boyhood club Nacional just before the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

According to Goal, over 60,000 supporters witnessed Suarez’s unveiling at the Arena do Gremio as he was presented in front of the fans on Wednesday, January 4.

The supporters gave the former Liverpool and Ajax forward a rousing welcome as Suarez walked out of the tunnel waving and applauding to his new fanbase.

Suarez is expected to make his first appearance for his new club when Gremio faces Caxias do Sul at the end of January.

Ex-Manchester United star to join Suarez at Gremio

Meanwhile, former Manchester United defender, Fabio da Silva is all set to join former Barcelona and Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez in Gremio, Daily Post reports.

Fabio who was a mainstay in Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United, is about to finalise a transfer to the Brazilian team after falling down the pecking order at his current club Nantes.

The Brazilian defender faced Suarez severally during their spells in the England Premier League when the Uruguayan played for Liverpool.

Luis Suarez agrees to join new club

Earlier, Sports Brief reported former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez’s next destination has been confirmed as he is set to join Brazilian club Gremio in the coming days.

Suarez, 35, has reportedly had a verbal agreement to join the club, with his current contract with Uruguay side Nacional running out.

If the deal comes to pass, Suarez will link up with former teammate Lucas Leiva, who went back to his native Brazil after leaving Lazio in the summer.
