World class players like Lionel Messi, Eden Hazard and Kylian Mbappe have all tried and failed to successfully take on the giant Dutchman.

Lionel Messi faced Van Dijk in the Champions League semifinal where they met twice, but the Argentine was unable to go past him in any of the two games.

Eden Hazard who recently made a big move to Real Madrid from Chelsea also came one on one with Van Dijk last season in the Premier League, but was unable to find his way.

In May, it was believed that Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford was the only one who successfully dribbled Van Dijk.

However, it was later revealed the PFA Players' Player of the Year failed to attempt a tackle and therefore the England man's success did not count.

Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk has been tipped to become the next defender after Fabio Cannavaro to win the Ballon d’Or.

The Liverpool centre-back enjoyed a memorable 2018-19 campaign, but suffered a defeat to Portugal in the Nations League final.
