The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed Finidi George's appointment as the new Super Eagles coach, but the organisation left out some details in its announcement.

The former Real Betis man worked as an assistant to Jose Peseiro at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, in which the Super Eagles finished second.

Finidi's first task is qualifying Nigeria for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Super Eagles will face South Africa and the Benin Republic in their next qualifiers.

Sports Brief takes a look at some of the details the NFF failed to provide in its official statement confirming Finidi's appointment.

Details NFF left out in Finidi's appoint

1. How long is his contract?

The Nigerian football governing body failed to stipulate the duration of the contract they signed with Finidi, which has been a significant concern for the fans.

During Peseiro's time, the details about the duration of the deal were stated alongside the targets.

2. Who are Finidi's assistants and technical staff?

NFF also left out information regarding the person who will serve as Finidi's assistant and the technical staff he will work with.

Finidi is familiar with the team, and he's expected to choose someone with the same similarities as him.

During the international friendlies against Ghana and Mali, the Enyimba coach worked without an assistant or a technical crew in both games.

Numerous reports claim that NFF has shortlisted some names for the post of assistant coach, with Finidi's former teammate Emmanuel Amunike among them.

Adepoju explains Nigeria's issue in AFCON final

Sports Brief earlier reported on former Super Eagles star, Mutiu Adepoju, sharing his thoughts on what went wrong for Nigeria in the AFCON final.

Adepoju believes the Super Eagles failed to replicate the performances they showed early in the tournament against Ivory Coast.
