  • Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has issued an update on winger Jadon Sancho
  • Ten Hag delivered a one-word answer on the English player after United beat Burnley in the Carabao Cup
  • Jadon Sancho has been sent on a special recovery programme after struggling to settle at the club

Manchester United beat Championship side Burnley 2-0 to progress to the last eight of the Carabao Cup thanks to goals from Christian Eriksen and Marcus Rashford.

The league cup tie came too early after the completion of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup but was not an excuse for United as they sealed their progression in the competition, they last won under Jose Mourinho in 2017.

The fate of English winger Jadon Sancho continues to remain unknown having not featured in the club's mid-season games in their World Cup break tour of Spain where they played Real Betis and Cadiz.

Erik Ten Hag has now issued an update on the former Borussia Dortmund winger after their win over Burnley. His whereabouts and return date remain unknown, or possibly, he could be out of the club soon.

One word update on Sancho

The former Ajax boss speaking to the press after their win over Burnley as published by Football Daily had not many words to say about Jadon Sancho.

He was asked about an update on the player and his answer was a straight NO. He was quizzed further about his projected return, and it was another resounding NO.

According to BBC Sports, United signed the former Manchester City player from Germany for £73m after he impressed for the Black and Yellow recording 114 goal contributions in 137 games.

He has however failed to replicate the form and has been totally abysmal for United scoring just eight goals and four assists in 52 games as recorded by Transfermarkt.

Ten Hag to end United's trophy drought?

Sports Brief earlier reported that Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has backed Erik Ten Hag to end the club's trophy drought.

The club have not won a trophy since Jose Mourinho last won the 2017 UEFA Europa League despite having had four permanent and interim managers after him.

Mourinho also won the Carabao Cup which United just reached the quarterfinals of and represents their best chance of silverware this season.
