Moroccan-American rapper French Montana has dropped a World Cup song in honour of the North Africans' 2022 campaign in Qatar.

The Atlas Lions have enjoyed an amazing run in the Middle East nation, becoming the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the Mundial.

The one-time African champions made it to the semis after they saw off some of the top teams in the world, including Spain and Portugal.

However, the North African giants' incredible World Cup run in Qatar came to a heartbreaking end, after they were defeated in the semi-finals by defending champions France.

Montana has decided to release a new song named after his country, in celebration of the national team’s historic first-time semi-final appearance, TMZ reports.

The song features mostly Arabic vocals, while the video contains celebratory visuals from Moroccans taking to the streets to celebrate.

The clip also includes highlights of the Atlas Lions' previous games, and countrymen from the rapper’s massive rally earlier this month.

Morocco will next face Croatia in the third-place playoff.

Morocco coach hails his players

Meanwhile, Morocco's fairy tale run to the World Cup semi-finals came to an end with a 2-0 loss to France, but coach Walid Regragui had nothing but admiration for his team's effort, News24 reports.

The Atlas Lions had battled with injuries to key players before the game, which Regragui revealed had affected his team going into the encounter.

He praised his charges for giving it their all on the pitch against some stern opposition, including the defending world champions.

France end Morocco's World Cup

Earlier, Sports Brief reported France ended Morocco's World Cup dream, as goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani gave the holders a 2-0 win in their semi-final clash.

The European powerhouses have now set up a showdown on Sunday with Lionel Messi's Argentina.

It looked like France might make short work of their opponents when Hernandez scored inside five minutes at the Al Bayt Stadium, despite a hostile crowd very clearly against them.
