What did Bellingham say?

Speaking after the game, the Borussia Dortmund youngster hailed Henderson's performance.

"Brilliant performance today, I've seen some of the rubbish about him playing. It's ridiculous. He is so underrated technically and he's delivered again in a big game with a massive goal. It's time he got a bit of respect," he said.

Criticism of Henderson

Many fans criticised the decision to play the Liverpool captain when the team list for the game against Senegal was first announced.

Ultimately the decision paid off, as even Gareth Southgate singled out Henderson for his leadership skills.

"Hendo doesn't get many goals for us, but I think he's been outstanding," he said. He added that Hendo was a real leader around camp and that his performances were top-drawer.

Hope for Liverpool fans?

After the game, England's Twitter page shared a photo of Alexander-Arnold and Henderson recreating Bellingham and Henderson's celebration. The teenager was on the other side of the camera.
