The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has lived up to expectations after the group stage of the tournament was concluded with some massive upsets witnessed.

Saudi Arabia pulled off one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history after they stunned Lionel Messi’s Argentina to record a remarkable victory against the South American champions.

Hansi Flick’s Germany failed to progress to the knockout stage of the World Cup for the second consecutive tournament after finishing behind Japan and Spain in Group E.

Cameroon also ended Africa’s wait to earn a victory over Brazil in a World Cup as Vincent Aboubakar’s added time goal gave the Indomitable Lions a massive 1-0 win against Tite’s team.

Qatar 2022 witnessed 120 group stage goals

It has been goals galore so far in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as 120 goals were scored in just the group stages alone.

Spain recorded the biggest winning margin of the group stages after they recorded a 7-0 win against Costa Rica in their opening game of the tournament.

The Qatar World Cup also featured 11 goals scored after the 90th-minute in one of the most dramatic group stages ever recorded in the competition.

Brazil's incredible record against African teams broken

Earlier, Sports Brief reported the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon made history in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Group match against Brazil in Qatar.

They not only became the first African team to defeat La Seleccao at the global showpiece event but also the first to not lose against the South Americans.

Up to that point, Brazil had not much as drawn with or lost to a team from the continent in the tournament. Cameroon, the only team from Africa to have ever beaten Brazil.
