The FIFA World Cup 2022 boasts some of the best teams in the world. The world's largest sports competition consists of teams having extensive international experience. It is the first tournament to be held in the winter, as it takes place in Qatar in the Arabian Peninsula.

In the FIFA World Cup 2022, 64 matches will be played in 29 days. The top 16 teams' matches begin on December 3, and the quarter-final matches begin on December 9. The semi-final matches will occur on December 14-15, with the tournament final on December 18, 2022.

Regardless of the complexities, the tournament is shaping up to be an excellent tournament. Which teams will make an impact and have a chance to win? This list contains predictions for who will win the World Cup.

Uruguay is once again a World Cup dark horse as they prepare for their 14th World Cup tournament. It is what you would expect from a country that has previously won the tournament — La Celeste were champions in two of the first four World Cups — and advanced to the semi-finals in 2010.

However, the talent on the field matters most in Qatar. Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani, and Diego Godin are all in their late 30s and will be hoping for one more lucky run. This could also be the tournament where the next generation of stars emerges.

9. Belgium

As young stars, Kevin de Bruyne and his international teammates faced high expectations as they led Belgium into a new era of international play. They reached the 2014 World Cup quarter-finals, losing 1-0 to Argentina, and finished third at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the country's best-ever finish at a World Cup.

Belgium is frequently underestimated compared to many other established World Cup powers, including Brazil, France, Spain, and Germany. This team is deep and dangerous in attack, but it has a number of flaws that other teams could exploit.

8. Portugal

For over a decade, the global perception of Portugal's national men's team has been Cristiano Ronaldo and ten others. It appears inevitable that Qatar 2022 will go down in Portuguese football history as his last Word Cup.

That is unless manager Fernando Santos can finally accomplish what has previously eluded him: transforming an incredible generation of individual talents into a cohesive unit. Those around him determine the ideal World Cup send-off for CR7.

7. Netherlands

The Netherlands will be an international puzzle at the FIFA 2022 tournament. They produce some of the best talents in the European club landscape but have struggled at the international level for nearly a decade. Following a stellar performance at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where they finished third after defeating hosts Brazil 3-0 in the third-place match, the Oranje have been nothing but a disappointment.

Who is favoured in the World Cup?

The Dutch will be heavily favoured in the tournament and are regarded as the strongest side in Group A, thanks to the presence of hosts Qatar. Still, they will face stiff competition from Senegal and Ecuador, as well as any potential host advantage.

This is a squad brimming with top European club talent, and they will be a dangerous presence if they make it into the knockouts as expected. Anything less than a quarter-final spot is likely to be a letdown for the Dutch.

6. England

England fans are excited about the 2022 FIFA World Cup after reaching the final of Euro 2021 last summer and the last four in Russia 2018. Gareth Southgate has brought the Three Lions closer to glory than any other manager since they last won the World Cup in 1966 — and Euro 2022 glory for the nation's women's team has only heightened anticipation for the trip to Qatar.

Their Qatar squad is reputed to be among the best. However, there have been discussions about the team's defence. This has been significantly impacted by a number of injuries to their best players in the positions, forcing them to miss the tournament.

5. Germany

Germany's team is at an all-time low, having been eliminated before the quarter-finals of two major tournaments in a row for the first time in postwar history. However, the humiliating group-stage exit in 2018 was followed by a defeat against England in the Euro 2020 last 16.

However, due to the team's experience and the quality of players, the team is expected to return to normalcy. Aside from international experience, Germany's main strength is that multiple players can score goals. Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sané, Havertz, and, of course, Thomas Müller are always a possibility.

4. Spain

Spain is coming off a strong showing at Euro 2020, where they advanced to the semi-finals thanks to the likes of Pedri and Ferran Torres. They also advanced to the 2021 UEFA Nations League final, where France defeated them with 10 minutes remaining.

These were encouraging signs as Spain is moving away from the golden generation that helped them win the World Cup in 2010. This was followed by a shock group-stage exit in the 2014 edition and a last-16 exit in Russia four years later. But, with a younger and stronger pool of talent to choose from for Qatar, Spain must be considered among the leading contenders for the title this year.

3. Argentina

Argentina is one of the most successful World Cup teams in history, having won the tournament twice and finished second both times. They have also qualified for all but four of the competition's editions.

In fact, they dominated the CONCACAF qualification, winning 11 of their 17 games, drawing six, and losing none. It is now up to Lionel Scaloni and his players to perform well in Qatar. Scaloni will be desperate to assist Lionel Messi, now 35, in claiming his first World Cup winner's medal.

2. France

Are they still the best World Cup team? France is the reigning world champion, with a deep pool of talent available in Qatar. Their star-studded team will be confident of another strong showing in the tournament, but they must be wary of a recent trend in which previous winners have failed to advance from their group.

France won the UEFA Nations League in 2021 after winning the World Cup in 2018 but was eliminated in the round of 16 at the postponed Euros. Notably, the team has suffered the loss of several key players due to injury. N'golo Kante and Paul Pobga, who were instrumental in the 2018 victory, are among them.

1. Brazil

Brazil is, without a doubt, the best team in the World Cup. When you look at the Brazil World Cup squad, it is easy to see why they are considered hot favourites. The team has a great mix of experience and youth, and they have a real chance to win the tournament in Qatar.

The vast majority of them play for elite clubs and possess tremendous strength from defence to forward. The squad's coach, Tite, has so many attacking options that he can barely fit half of them into his team. It is the best team in the world right now.

The FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar is also missing some of the best teams like Italy, Egypt, Nigeria and Colombia. Some key players, including Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland, and Victor Osimhen, will be watching from the comfort of their own homes. That is, however, what distinguishes this tournament as the best in sports.
