Gabriel Martinelli was Arsenal's match hero, as his solitary goal in the 65th minute of the encounter made the whole difference.

Mikel Arteta hails four stars

Speaking after the match, Arteta singled out four players for praise, hinting they made the whole difference for his side during the Stamford Bridge trip.

The Spanish tactician described the vital away victory as ‘another step forward’ for his side, picking out the quartet of Gabriel Jesus, William Saliba, Ben White and Gabriel for praise.

"For such a young team, the maturity that they showed, the composure they showed, the resilience and the courage to play the way we wanted to play, it was phenomenal," Arteta said via BT Sport.
"Composure, it’s determination, it’s quality, it’s courage to do it in these scenarios, and that’s the steps we have to take as a team, and today we have taken that step," he added.

Meanwhile, the win over Chelsea leaves Arsenal leading City by two points after 13 rounds of fixtures.
