Ghana Legend Asamoah Gyan Wants to Play at the World Cup in Qatar, Draws Inspiration from Roger Milla

Asamoah Gyan is not giving up on his dreams of playing at a fourth FIFA World Cup, as he draws inspiration from the legendary Roger Milla.

The 36-year-old is currently unattached but has started training to stay fit before November's World Cup in Qatar.

Gyan, who was speaking to the BBC, believes he might be a surprise inclusion to Otto Addo's team for the global showpiece.

"Anything can happen, you know it has happened before, talking about Cameroon in 1994 with Roger Milla coming out of retirement to play at the World Cup," he told John Bennett in a video interview.

"But I haven't retired yet. I have been out for almost two years now due to injuries and due to my body. I just need to get my body in shape so I have started training. Of course I need to get my body in shape and I see how my body reacts to playing competitive.

"Talent wise, everything is there already. I just have to be physically ready."

Asamoah Gyan remains Africa's top scorer at the FIFA World Cup with six goals from three competitions.

The former Sunderland player was Ghana's first-ever goal scorer at the World Cup, after scoring in the game against Czech Republic in 2006.

He starred as Ghana reached the quarter finals in South Africa and scored twice in Brazil 2014.

Asamoah Gyan begins coaching course in Wales

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that an image of Asamoah Gyan in Wales for his UEFA Coaching License certificate has surfaced on the internet.

The 36-year-old former Sunderland and Al Ain striker left the shores of Ghana for the European country over the weekend as he takes steps toward realizing his dream of becoming a coach when he hangs his boots.

Gyan has never been shy about his ambitions of occupying the Black Stars hot seat in the near future and is currently putting his money where his mouth is to bring his dreams into reality.
