However, the new Liverpool signing failed to live up to the expectations of the fans when his new side took on Man United in Thailand during a pre-season friendly clash on Tuesday, July 12.

Nunez did little to impress the Liverpool faithful, with fans trolling the Uruguay international for his underwhelming display.

According to Metro UK, Nunez, having taken part in fewer sessions than many of the players on the pitch, was constantly involved and had several sighters of goal.

However, he fired blanks and was unable to convert any of the clear-cut chances presented to him.

Despite Nunez's disappointing performance, Klopp was still able to see the brighter side of his newest acquisition.

The Liverpool boss was full of praise for the striker and revealed that he was actually impressed with his work rate and runs in behind.

"He is a number nine and he can play on the wing as well. We will see where he will play. But what you could see is the boys were already searching for him," Klopp observed.
"We nearly killed him these balls but he offered the runs and the boys wanted to pass the ball, that is for sure one of his strengths. He was dangerous," he added.

Manchester United smash Liverpool in pre-season friendly

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Erik ten Hag has kicked off his Manchester United reign on a flying start after leading his charges to a huge 4-0 win over rivals Liverpool in a pre-season friendly staged in Thailand.

The Tuesday, July 12, clash was Ten Hag's first in charge of the Red Devils since he was appointed the club's permanent boss.

And the Dutchman did not disappoint even as he gave United fans a glimpse of what to expect when the new season starts.
