Chelsea has received a boost in their pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt after Juventus admitted they stand a good chance of losing the Dutch defender this summer.

The 22-year-old defender has tabled a request to leave the former Serie A champions after talks for a new deal collapsed with Juventus.

According to a report via the Daily Mail, Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene has now revealed the Turin club will be happy to sell the Dutch defender so long their terms are met.

Chelsea has been seen as the major contender to sign de Ligt but must now meet the release clause of the defender which is set at £102million.

The Blues have already had their first bid of £40million plus a choice of either Werner or Pulisic rejected by the Italian side for the Dutch defender.

Chelsea agree fee for 1st summer signing

Chelsea could yet make their first signing of the summer after reaching an agreement with Leeds United for the signature of winger, Raphinha, Caught Offside reports.

Both Premier League clubs have negotiated a £60/65m fee including add-ons for the 25-year-old Brazilian who was impressive for Leeds last season.

The deal for Raphinha is yet to be finalized as Barcelona looks set to hijack the deal whereas Arsenal has also not given up hope of signing the Brazilian winger this summer.

Chelsea Ready to Sign Matthijs de Ligt

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea are leading the race to sign Juventus defender, Matthijs de Ligt this summer after reopening talks with the Italian giants for the Dutchman.

De Ligt is seeking a new challenge away from Italy after talks over a new deal with Juventus broke down, prompting the 22-year-old to hand in a transfer request.

Chelsea are unwilling to match the release clause of the Dutch center-back but would rather include American, Christian Pulisic in the deal to sign the Juventus defender.
