English Premier League club, Chelsea are leading the race to sign Juventus defender, Matthjis de Ligt this summer after reopening talks with the Italian giants for the Dutchman.

De Ligt is seeking a new challenge away from Italy after talks over a new deal with Juventus broke down, prompting the 22-year-old to hand in a transfer request.

Chelsea are unwilling to match the release clause of the Dutch center-back but would rather include American, Christian Pulisic in the deal to sign the Juventus defender Daily Mail reports.

It is thought Juventus will prefer the former Borussia Dortmund winger rather than Timo Werner who was previously touted to be included in the swap deal.

Matthijs de Ligt has been identified as a top priority for Thomas Tuchel's side as the Blues seek to strengthen their defense following the summer exits of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Chelsea reach an agreement with Leeds to sign Raphinha

Meanwhile, Brazilian winger, Raphinha could wrap up his move from Leeds United to Chelsea in a few days after both clubs reached an agreement for the forward, Football London reports.

Arsenal and Barcelona were among the clubs in the queue to sign the Leeds United winger before the Blues swooped in to seal a deal for the Brazilian.

Leeds had demanded £55m for Raphinha which the Gunners had failed to match in their initial bid prompting the Blues to take the lead in the purchase of the 25-year-old.
