Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has branded Mohamed Salah' daft' for his telling comment following the pitchside confrontation with Jurgen Klopp on April 27.

Salah and Klopp were involved in a heated confrontation in the second half as the Egyptian was getting ready for his introduction.

He was among the changes that the departing Klopp made in the wake of the humbling Merseyside defeat on Wednesday. With the Reds in dire need of maximum points against West Ham, Klopp opted to bring on his star forward, only for the winger to tear into his manager,

The component of the argument remains unknown, with Klopp downplaying the incident in his post-match remarks. Salah meanwhile stated that 'there will be fire' if he spoke about the incident as he passed by the mixed zone after the two-all stalemate.

Carragher has now faulted Salah for the remarks which now sets up an awkward ending to Klopp's nine-year tenure at Liverpool.

What has Jamie Carragher said?

"Mo was daft with his comment in the mixed zone, but let them sort it out and enjoy the last few weeks together," said the former centre-back on his X account.

The former footballer turned pundit, however, understood why the two, who have enjoyed a cordial working relationship over the years, were reading from different scripts.

"Salah and Jurgen Klopp are both Liverpool legends. We don't need to take sides!

Salah is frustrated and angry with Jurgen because he's not playing. At that moment, he didn't want to fully embrace the boss, and Jurgen understandably took exception."

It remains to be seen how the German tactician will handle the situation. Liverpool are still mathematically in the title race, but for them to have a chance, both Arsenal and Manchester City will need to drop points.

Other times Salah and Klopp had confrontations

Sports Brief has also documented the previous times Salah and Klopp exchanged words.

The 31-year-old might have been the best player of the Klopp era at Liverpool, but have been at loggerheads a couple of times.
