Percy Tau’s days in Egypt could be numbered.

The South African’s future at Al Ahly was in doubt after Pitso Mosimane left the club, but it’s his injury record that could be his downfall.

Soccer Laduma reported that the club have fears over Tau’s injury record.

The South African has suffered six injuries since signing for the Egyptian side in August 2021.

The publication reported that Tau’s injury record has upset a section of the club’s hierarchy and they are considering releasing him over fears that he is injury prone.

As reported by Goal.com, Tau has suffered an injury in his quadriceps and will be out for a month.

The Egyptian Premier League comes to an end at the end of August and Tau may not even be back in time for the final game of the season.

Bafana coach Hugo Broos has also complained about Tau’s constant injuries, saying that his basic health was poor. Broos suggested that Tau takes a six-month break from playing football to focus on his health.

Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, has replaced Percy Tau with Royal AM’s Victor Letsoalo for Bafana’s upcoming friendlies. Letsoalo was originally part of the provisional squad to take on Guinea and then France but did not make the final 23-man squad.

Percy Tau was included in the squad but suffered a knee injury during Al Ahly’s CAF Champions League fixture over the weekend, KickOff reported.No indication was given as to how long he would be out of action.

The news has frustrated Hugo Broos, who has become tired of the constant injuries to one of his key players, Sports Brief earlier reported. Broos added that the player should take a six-month break from football in order to fully recuperate.

Percy Tau won’t be available for Bafana’s upcoming friendlies against Guinea and France, but if Ahmed Shobier is to be believed, Tau won’t return to the squad while Broos remains in charge.
