FarPost broke the news last night that Masandawana were opting to let the player go.

The 33-year-old joined Sundowns in 2020 from Kaizer Chiefs and made just 19 appearances, scoring one goal and assisting four, The South African reported.

Towards the end of May, Maluleka’s agent confirmed that his player’s contract with the DStv Premiership champions was coming to an end but that the club had the option to extend it by a year.

The Brazilians had until the end of May to make a decision on Maluleka, Soccer Laduma reported at the time.

" Sundowns have been given until the end of May to take up his option. There is no concern as Sundowns have every right to let us know the last day of May. There's no concern regarding George. He is an out-an-out professional. Every single time at training, he will be there keeping fit and preparing for what's to come. Whatever that may be, he will be prepared because that's George Maluleka for you," his representative, Sean Roberts said.

Maluleka is an experienced campaigner who has played for the University of Pretoria, SuperSport United, Ajax Cape Town and Kaizer Chiefs before his move to the Chloorkop side.

Sundowns have already made one new signing, bringing in Sipho Mbule from SuperSport United.

Sipho Mbule explains that future success was the reason behind leaving SuperSport United for Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns have become synonymous with success.

Masandawana wrapped up a domestic treble this season while also securing their fifth Premier Soccer League title in a row.

It’s that continued success that attracts big-name players and it’s why Sipho Mbule opted to sign for Sundowns. The former SuperSport United player recently explained why he wanted to join the Brazilians, explaining that he wanted to win trophies, Soccer Laduma reported.

Sipho Mbule to follow Teboho Mokoena from Supersport United to Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs miss out again

Kaizer Chiefs could be set to lose out on another transfer to Mamelodi Sundowns, as Sipho Mbule looks set to join the Brazilians.

The Supersport United midfielder has been heavily linked with both Chiefs and Sundowns, but the player is reported to be following Teboho Mokoena in leaving Supersport for Sundowns.

Mbule has yet to play for Supersport United this year, and it is unclear if the player is being punished. Supersport United management was understood to be upset with the player when he was approached by Sundowns.
