Sad News as Ghanaian Female Goalkeeper Drowns to Death in the Volta Region

Ghanaian female goalkeeper Mabel Mawusi Dogah has been found dead after three days since she went missing.

The Mepe Peace Ladies goalkeeper is reported to have drowned in a river on Thursday, April 14th, 2022 but her body surfaced three days later at a river bank in Dzemeni.

In a post on Facebook, the Volta Region Football Association has paid tribute to the young goalkeeper, and has since been laid to rest.

"Our Condolences to the entire family of Dogah, Ghana Women League and Mepe Peace Ladies FC for the demise of their daughter and goalkeeper Mabel Mawusi Dogah," wrote the Volta Football Association.
"Mabel drowned on Thursday 14th April 2022 and her mortal remains was found later at the river bank in Dzemeni yesterday 17th April 2022. According to their customs, She was layed to to rest same day she was found.
"May she rest well in the bosom of her maker."

Her death comes as a shock to the football fraternity as she had potential to become one of the best in Ghana's women divisions.

CAF Doctor Joseph Kabungo laid to rest in Zambia

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Dr Joseph Kabungo has been laid to rest after a short memorial ceremony at the Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka.

The CAF Doping Officer passed away last week after a cardiac arrest at the end of Ghana's game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Abuja.

His death came as a shock to CAF and the Zambian Football Federation after it was earlier reported he died due to the stampede that broke out at the Moshood Abiola stadium.

Black Maidens beat Guinea in World Cup qualifiers

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the Black Maidens of Ghana are on the verge of qualifying for the World Cup appearance after thumping Guinea in the first leg of the qualifiers.

The Ghana U-17 side recorded a 3-1 away victory in Conakry to put one foot at the Women’s U-17 World Cup.

Coach Baba Nuhu’s side will face their Guinean counterparts next two weekends for the reverse fixture in Cape Coast.
