Ghana Coach in Talks With Dortmund Attacker for Possible Nationality Switch

Interim Black Stars manager Otto Addo is unrelenting in pursuing the best of talents for Ghana, especially players with dual citizenship.

Frantic moves have been made by the Ghana Football Association and the head coach to reach out to players of Ghanaian descent born in the diaspora as the leadership of the Black Stars aim to assemble the best materials available.

Latest on the radar of coach Addo is none other than his protégé Ansgar Knauff, who has been with Borussia Dortmund since 2016.

According to a report via Sportsworldghana, Otto Addo is seriously chasing the Dortmund loanee as he tries to convince him to switch his allegiance to Ghana.

Ansgar Knauff's career so far

Knauff was born in Göttingen to a Ghanaian mother and a German father.

The 20-year-old winger joined Borussia Dortmund's youth team in 2016 and made his first team appearance for the Black and Yellow on December 8, 2020.

He scored his debut goal four months later against Stuttgart. Knauff has currently moved to Frankfurt for an 18-month loan to gather first team experience.

Antoine Semenyo earns Black Stars call-up against Nigeria

English-born Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyo has earned a call-up to the Black Stars ahead of the epic encounter against West African neighbours Nigeria.

Semenyo's imperious form since December has seen him involved in the most goals in the English Championship in that period, proceeding to win the Player of the month award in January.

The 22-year-old's renaissance since suffering an injury has courted the interest of the Ghana Football Association.

French-born midfielder to receive maiden Black Stars call-up ahead of Nigeria showdown

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Elisha Owusu appears set to represent Ghana as the KAA Gent midfielder looks ready to get his first call-up to the Black Stars ahead of their World Cup Play-offs against Nigeria.

The 24-year-old was born in France and has represented the French national teams at youth level but is now ready to switch allegiance to Ghana.

According to a report via Complete Sports, Elisha Owusu has been speaking with officials of the Ghana Football Association and interim coach Otto Addo and is likely to be listed in the Black Stars team to face Nigeria.
