Bidco United FC history

Bidco United Football Club is a Kenyan football association club situated in Thika. The club presently participates in the Kenyan Premier League and is sponsored by Bidco Africa. It plays its home games at the Del Monte Grounds.

Bidco United finished second in the National Super League (NSL) to Nairobi City Stars. The club was promoted to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) after the FKF decided to disband the league.

Bidco United's stadium

Since Thika United's relegation three seasons ago, the multi-purpose facility has not hosted a top-tier match. Bidco United, who was just promoted, have announced that Thika Stadium will remain their home stadium.

Bidco United have not been participating in the top tier for the last decade. The relegation of Thika United meant that the stadium did not have any representatives. The stadium holds a capacity of 20,000 seats.

"This is why we were fighting to be in the Premier League. We want to bring home that feeling that was associated with the stadium," Bidco coach Antony Akhulia told Goal.com.

Team restructuring

The Thika-based side had a solid inaugural season in the FKF Premier League, defeating top tiers like Tusker FC and AFC Leopards. They also advanced to the semi-finals of the FKF Cup and ended third overall.

Akhulia has announced his transfer plans for the current season. The young strategist wants to add new signings to the defence, midfield, and attack. He also stated that his goal is to finish in the top five spots.

New signings

"We are going to add a few players, we are basically going for a few quality players. This season's target was to survive relegation but next season we will have bigger goals, we will try to finish in the top five positions and that means we will have to get a few quality players that will push us to the next level," Coach Anthony stated.

The new players have not arrived to displace previous players, according to club coach Anthony Akhulia, but rather as part of the routine club restructuring.

"I had a team of 28 people and you cannot tell me all the 28 players performed better. Still, even if we were not promoted they could have left," the tactician told Goal.

Those who were let go from the team are Eliud Emase, Frankline Mwenda, Collins Marita, Felix Otieno, Peter Mwangi, Castro Ogendo, Anthony Kamau, and John Oginga go.

"So, rumours are there; some may claim we let players go after helping us get promoted. But again, it would not have made sense to bench anyone for a season, and we cannot guarantee that his time is coming.

However, the newly signed players are Striker Pistone Mutamba, formerly of Wazito, veteran forward Stephen Waruru (KCB Football Club), defender Wilson Anekeya (Zoo), defender Luke Ochieng (Western Stima), and goalkeeper Brian Opondo (Kariobangi Sharks).

Others are striker Batts Awita formerly of Bungoma Super Stars, and Nzoia Sugar, striker Noah Wafula was unattached. Victor Ayugi, formerly of Vihiga United and KCB. Goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe, formerly of Wazito, Dennis Monda, was unattached but played for Sofapaka and Anthony Gathu, who joins from National Super League (NSL) side Murang'a Seal.

He then added:

"Even Liverpool won the league and ended up showing the door to some players. The truth is we had 28 players, seven left, and we had to fill those vacancies because we needed a team of 30. We made changes that we would have even if we could have remained in the National Super League."

"If you are a coach, at one point, you have to let go of players because of indiscipline, jokes and related issues. Some decided to retire, and injuries have forced others out. Some left and joined other teams and we must fill these slots."
