Augustine Eguavoen has given his support to the Nigerian Professional Football League players and assured them they will certainly get call-ups to the Super Eagles in the future.
Eguavoen was on Monday, February 7, asked to carry on as the Super Eagles interim manager after helping the Nigeria to the second round of the African Cup of Nations.
In a report via Complete Sports, the NFF technical director has been monitoring league matches across the country since his return from the AFCON.
The 1994 Nations Cup winner admitted the standard in the NPFL is high and will definitely not rule out sending invites to some of the outstanding players in the league to feature in the Super Eagles.
“Nigerian playing in any of the leagues in the country can get a chance to play for the national team.
“Once players get information that I will be around, not just me, a couple of my colleagues are also watching other matches, it gives them a lot of hope and thinking they will get a chance one day.”
Nigeria football federation set world cup target for Eguavoen
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation have set a target of qualifying to the World Cup for the newly confirmed coaching crew of the Super Eagles led by Augustine Eguavoen.
In a statement as captured by The Guardian, NFF’s General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi in a statement confirming Eguavoen’s reinstatement as the interim coach of the national team confirmed the new target for the coaching crew.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Augustine Eguavoen has been praised by the Amaju Pinnick who is the president of the Nigerian Football Federation for his performances with the Super Eagles at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
The 2021 African Cup of Nations came to an end on Sunday in Cameroon with Senegal emerging champions after beating Egypt 4-2 on penalties in the final.
Expectations of many Nigerians was for the Super Eagles to reach the final of the African Cup of Nations, but they crashed out in the round of 16 losing against Tunisia.
