However, his career had been cut short due to a recurring knee injury. He took up coaching in 2017 with the Cricket Advisory committee appointing him head coach for the senior Indian Cricket Team in 2019, after a short stint as the director of the team.

9. Andy Flower

Born on the 28th of April 1968, the Zimbabwean is one of the best batsmen to come out of the nation. Political reasons kept him from reaching his full potential as his career had to be cut short. He followed his retirement with his coaching career almost immediately in 2007 as the assistant coach of the English team, later being promoted to head coach in 2009.

The former star athlete was the first Zimbabwean to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. Other teams he coached included Multan Sultans and St. Lucia Kings.

8. Michael Hesson

The New Zealander has had his fair share of success with different national teams. He built an invincible team in 2015, which challenged him to the World Cup finals, achieving great success. Other teams he has coached include Argentina, Kenya, Kings XI Punjab, and Otago.

6. Gary Stead

The New Zealander only played five test matches before transitioning to coaching the New Zealand women’s team. 5. Dav Whatmore

The Australian coach began his coaching journey in 1988 as the Sri Lankan head coach, where he was born. He proceeded to win the 1996 Cricket World Cup. He later moved on to Lancashire, where he won two National league titles and a NatWest Trophy, which was impressive.
