Which players will be booting up for the Indomitable Lions in Qatar?

The Indomitable Lions, as they are commonly referred, is a strong team of Africa's best footballers. Rigobert, the team coach, was also a former player for the country and is expected to deliver since he has led the team to continental and international grounds. He is also the country's most-capped player of all time, has participated in four World Cups, and is the second Cameroonian to qualify his country for the World Cup since Léonard Nséké in 1994.

The coach is an incredible tactician whose combination of mental strength and combative character has given rise to a unit of hardworking players.

After replacing Toni Conceicao in the coaching department in early 2022, fans and pundits went to social media to share their views. They criticized him for his style of play and lack of fluidity, because of his rookie status. However, few acknowledged him, including the great Cameroonian Samuel Eto'o.

"We shouldn't have sacked (former coach) Tony Conceicao so quickly. With all the respect I have for [Rigo], he must not lie to himself, he is not up to it," Emana said, as cited by BBC Africa.

Rigobert Song is Cameroon's coach. This was a decision made by the Cameroonian Football Federation after the dismissal of Antonio Conceicao. He was appointed in 2019 and led the team to their third-place finish in the recent AFCON tournament. Despite criticism, he is expected to lead the team to an incredible World Cup performance.

Cameroon's 2022 World Cup jersey

Cameroon's home jersey is predominantly green with red and yellow trim. It also appears to have a tonal diagonal/chevron stripe pattern. A dark green graphic covers the entire half of the top part of the shirt, and one All Sports logo is centred between the Cameroonian FA badge and a Lion's head emblem.

Cameroon's World Cup squad announcement

On November 10 2022, Rigobert, the team manager, announced the 26-man roster that will represent the country in football's most prestigious competition. However, he left out the long-serving centre-back Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui. He included two home-based players, Souaibou Marou and Jerome Ngom, who had won their first caps just hours before in a friendly against Jamaica. The squad is strong and hopes to put in the work required for the biggest soccer tournament.

Vincent Aboubakar will captain the Cameroon national football team as they head out to Qatar. He has enough tools to lead the team since he has been a loyal player and is among the best in the squad. He participated in the 2010 World Cup in his teenage years, and again in Brazil in 2014, when Cameroon last appeared at the finals.

How many African teams will be at the World Cup 2022?

Five African teams will proudly represent the continent in the World Cup. They include Ghana, Cameroon, Tunisia, Senegal and Morocco. Cameroon and Senegal are the favourites as they carry Africa's best players and their past performances are promising. All the teams are also led by local coaches for the first time, hoping that one will be the first African team to win the elusive trophy.

Which group has Cameroon been placed in the World Cup?

Cameroon has been drawn into Group G of the tournament. They will be going against five-time champions Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia. Their first game will be against Switzerland on Thursday, 24 November 2022.

Cameroon's World Cup squad will face stiff competition, especially against their group G rivals, Brazil. This, however, is not of much concern as the Indomitable lions are more than prepared for anything that comes their way as they represent Africa in the most prestigious football competition.
