Vitali Klitschko has confirmed six Russian soldiers were killed by Ukrainian forces were killed during a mission carried out in Kyiv.

The former heavyweight world champion revealed the operation was carried out to search for Russian troops in the Ukrainian city of Kyiv following the Russian invasion.

According to a report via Sport Bible, Klitschko confirmed their mission to defend the city was hugely successful.

"It's some successful but they are hunting. They sit somewhere with snipers right now and we make an announcement, nobody is allowed to go from houses.
"First of all we care about the life of the people and from another point, we are trying to hunt these people and it will be much easier if nobody else is on the street.
"We killed some people, I guess six people, last night."

Meanwhile, Vitali Klitschko says he is ready to die alongside his brother, Wladimir Klitschko as they continue to defend the city of Kyiv against the Russian military.

According to the Daily Mail, Vitali who is the Mayor of Kyiv has remained in the Ukrainian city together with his brother, Wladimir as they have taken up arms in the Ukrainian army.

The boxing brothers say they are not afraid of the Russian military but are prepared to fight and defend their country against anyone.

Ukraine Legend Asks Former Club to Support His Country’s Quest

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Andriy Shevchenko is calling for peace for the people of Ukraine following the war waged against them by neighbours Russia.

In a video posted on Twitter by AC Milan, the former Ukraine captain and ex-player of the Italian giants pleaded with the club to support his country's quest for peace.

The video showed live on a giant screen before AC Milan's clash with Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night.
