Michael Bisping wins title at UFC 199

Bisping recorded one of the biggest upsets in UFC title fight history when he became middleweight champion in June 2016.

The British fighter stepped up on only 17 days' notice to face champion, Luke Rockhold at UFC 199 after Chris Weidman pulled out of the fight due to injury.

Weidman’s loss was Bisping’s gain as he became the first English UFC champion. He stunned Rockhold in their championship fight, knocking him out in the first round, per USA Today.

Bisping knocked down Rockhold after hitting the jaw of the backpedalling champion with a strong left hand.

Rockhold managed to bounce back up and engaged the Englishman. He only delayed the inevitable as another left hand landed and knocked the American out for good.

It was a historic victory for Bisping, who earned his first title after 26 fights in the promotion.

Leon Edwards wins title at UFC 278

Edwards became the second English UFC champion, and he did so in stunning fashion at UFC 278. He challenged long-time champion, Kamaru Usman for the UFC Middleweight Championship in August last year.

The British fighter started strongly in that contest and had a successful first round. He struggled, however, in the next four rounds as the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ showed why he was the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

Just when it seemed Usman was headed for another successful title defence, Edwards recorded one of the most stunning knockouts in UFC history.

He caught the champion flush with a powerful left kick to the head, knocking him out cold with 56 seconds remaining in the fifth round, per ESPN.

Edwards snapped Usman’s 15-fight winning streak with the last-gasp victory. He successfully defended his title at UFC 286, beating Usman in their trilogy fight by majority decision.

His next title defence will come at UFC 296, where he will face challenger, Colby Covington for the Middleweight Championship this coming December.

Tom Aspinall wins title at UFC 295

Aspinall’s road to the UFC title was totally unexpected. He wasn’t supposed to fight at UFC 295, with Jon Jones slated to face Stipe Miocic for the Heavyweight Championship.

Jones got injured, though, leading UFC to stage an interim title showdown between Sergei Pavlovich and Aspinall.

He took the fight on two weeks’ notice, and he made the most of this glorious opportunity.

He needed just one minute and nine seconds to become the third British UFC champion in history, knocking out Pavlovich with two solid hands right to the temple.

Aspinall landed two more shots when the Russian went down before the referee stopped the fight.
