The UFC Lightweight title is up for grabs in what promises to be an action-packed bout at UFC 294.

Islam Makhachev will take on Alexander Volkanovski in the main event of the pay-per-view, the second time the two will meet for the title.

Makhachev was originally scheduled to fight Charles Oliveira, the man he originally beat for the title, but the Brazilian suffered an injury before the fight.

Featherweight title holder Volkanovski then stepped in on short notice and will challenge the dominant champion once more. As noted by UFC, Makhachev defeated Volk via unanimous decision.

Makhachev to face Oliveira

Earlier Sports Brief reported how Makhachev will defend his UFC lightweight belt against former champion Charles Oliveira in a rematch on October 21 in Abu Dhabi.

UFC president Dana White announced that Makhachev vs. Oliveira 2 will be the main event of UFC 294.

The two locked horns last October at UFC 280, with Makhachev defeating Oliveira in the second round via submission.
