Belgian tactician, Hugo Broos, has released his preliminary Bafana Bafana squad for their two FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe in June.

South Africa are one of the favourites alongside Nigeria to qualify from Group C, but both countries are second and third, respectively.

Three players who received first Bafana call-ups

1. Thabo Moloisane

The 25-year-old defender has been named in South Africa's preliminary squad for their next FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

The Mamelodi Sundowns academy product is having a stellar season with Stellenbosch. He was one of the players who led the club to arguably its best season in the league's history.

He will battle for a spot on Broos' team with top players like Mothobi Mvala, Grant Kekana, and Nkosinathi Sibisi.

2. Devin Titus

Titus is another Stellenbosch player on the list. He earned his first call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad after representing the South Africa Under-23 team.

The 22-year-old forward scored 12 goals in 37 appearances for the Maroons in the 2023-24 season, and a Carling Knockout Cup title capped off a wonderful campaign.

3. Relebohile Mofokeng

Mofokeng is one of the squad's youngest players, as Broos announced, and his inclusion is due to his recent performances for the Orlando Pirates.

The 19-year-old's performance has been noticed by African giants Al Ahly and he has been linked with a move to the Egyptian side.

In the DStv Premiership, the Pirates midfielder has scored three goals in 24 appearances.

Broos warns Nigeria ahead of qualifiers

Sports Brief previously reported that Broos had warned the Super Eagles ahead of their FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The two African giants will face off against each other on June 7, with one point separating them at present.
