Iga Swiatek is moving on to the semifinals of the 2023 French Open.
The defending champion needed just one hour and 28 minutes to record a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Coco Gauff in their quarterfinal match on Wednesday.
It was an impressive win by Swiatek, who moved within two victories of nabbing her third Roland Garros title.
The reigning US Open champion blasted 19 winners and won 64 percent of her first serve points against Gauff.
What proved to be the difference in the contest, however, was the world No. 1’s sizzling return.
Swiatek won 50 percent of her receiving points against Gauff, with the Polish star converting four of her five break-point opportunities.

FootballSwiatek has been phenomenal in this year’s French Open, dropping just 15 games and not losing a single set in her five matches so far, per BBC.
Swiatek continued her mastery of Gauff, who has yet to take a set off the two-time French Open champion in seven career meetings.
It was a disappointing result for Gauff, who was looking to avenge her loss to Swiatek in last year’s French Open final.
Swiatek will next face Beatriz Haddad Maia in the semifinals of the 2023 French Open.
Haddad Maia reached her first Grand Slam semis on Wednesday, defeating Ons Jabeur in three sets, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-1.
She made history with that victory, becoming the first Brazilian woman to reach a Grand Slam semifinal since Maria Bueno accomplished that feat in 1968, per WTA.
Sports Brief recently previewed the French Open semifinal between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.
