RG Snyman Receives Staggering Offer From Leinster With Departure From Munster Likely

Leinster must feel RG Snyman is worth the gamble.

The Irish provincial union is willing to compensate the Springbok colossus handsomely for his services, likely luring him away from their old foes.

The Potchefstroom native joined Munster in 2020 and while effective when on the pitch, those occasions have been few and far between.

The decision to offer Snyman half a million Euros per season has been met with quizzical glances across the rugby community.

As well as his long list of injuries, including the shoulder injury that currently has him sidelined, pundits have pointed out that Leinster have ample stock in the loose-forward positions.

The lock seemed set for a move to England with Bath but Leinster may have come in with a late swoop. Speaking to RugbyPass, former Wales captain, Sam Warburton gave his opinion, saying:

"I think Leinster need to add some brute force up front. Someone like an RG Snyman, that would be an amazing recruitment for someone like Leinster just to add someone of that ilk into their pack."

Leinster coach, Leo Cullen has not confirmed the move yet and former Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber could be a hidden factor swaying the deal in the background.

Nienaber joined Leinster last month and has been tipped to enhance their defence, something Snyman would certainly contribute towards. Planet Rugby quoted former Leinster centre, James Downey's analysis, who said:

"Defence wins championships. You can have the best attack in the world but if you can keep a team out, it’s priceless. Defence is an attitude."
