  • Chelsea played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Saturday
  • The Blues had the chance to win the game but let a two-goal lead slip
  • Robert Sanchez was particularly guilty of several mistakes in the game

Chelsea fans have singled out Robert Sanchez for their draw against Arsenal in an entertaining London derby on Saturday, October 21.

The Gunners staged a late comeback to come from two goals down to maintain their unbeaten start to the league season.

Things would have been much different if Chelsea kept their concentration for the full 90 minutes as they were in control of the game for large parts thanks to goals from Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk.

As cited on BBC, Palmer had initially put his side in the lead with a 15th-minuteth penalty after William Saliba was penalized for a handball,

Mudryk got the second goal in the second half with a speculative effort looping over a helpless David Raya.

Arsenal had struggled to find their rhythm for large parts of the game, but they were handed a lifeline after Chelsea goalie Sanchez misplaced a pass which found Declan Rice, who fired past him from distance to make it 2-1.

Seven minutes later, the scores were level as Arsenal found another goal; this time Bukayo Saka picking out Leandro Trossard.

Mikel Arteta will be delighted his side came out with a point at Stamford Bridge in a game which they were not at their best.

It was a bitter pill for Chelsea to swallow after letting a two-goal slip, and fans were keen to make their feelings known on social media.

Here are some reactions from fans:

@CfcSheikh said:

"10/10 performance until Robert Sanchez turned into a clown. We deserved to win that game but this guys arrogance cost us. Pochettino should bench him as punishment."

@Nkunkumehn added:

"Robert Sanchez, you have ruined my weekend!"

@Kwaw_stiga observed:

"Sanchez has to just boot that and use his head. Jackson has to just shoot it. It was so exciting for the first 70 minutes and then."

While @mickydarlen said:

"Sanchez needs to apologize to his teammates and Poch also needs to accept he made the wrong subs."

Enzo Fernandez settles penalty dispute

Elsewhere, Sports Brief also reported on an interesting incident during the Chelsea-Arsenal game where Raheem Sterling almost took the penalty away from Cole Palmer.

Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez stepped in and handed the ball over to Palmer who calmly dispatched it, sending David Raya the wrong way.

Palmer redeemed himself from 12 yards after missing the Blues first penalty of the season in August.
