Former NFL Live host Wendi Nix was born on the seventeenth of September 1974 in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, United States of America, to Wayne Nix and an unnamed mother.

In the 1980s, Wayne was the athletic director and head football coach at Gilbert and Laurens High School in South Carolina. Although the former football host keeps her family details under wraps, she shared her fondest memories with her father and brother in a Father’s Day interview with ESPN Front Row. She said,

"My earliest memories were on a football field with my father. I am six years older than my brother, so my dad brought me along to practice. The field continues to be a place of comfort for me. "I grew up in a neighbourhood full of boys with whom we played every game from sun up to sun down. I have scars from a game we invented called Mongo ball, which is like tackle basketball. It was fun, but often painful."

In 1999, the Murrells Inlet native got her first job covering NASCAR, high school sports, and news at the WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach. At the end of her tenure at WPDE in 2001, she returned as an anchor for the NESN, covering the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics.

Between 2002 and 2003, she joined FOXSports as a national sports reporter and a weekend anchor for FOXSports New England's live sportscasts. For three years, between 2003 and 2006, she joined NBC affiliate WHDH-TV in Boston as a sports anchor and reporter.
