Newly retired quarterback Tom Brady announced in an interview on Monday that he will start work as a broadcaster for Fox Sports in the fall of 2024.

The soon-to-be Hall of Famer made the revelation during an appearance on “FS1’s The Herd With Colin Cowherd.”

It comes just six days after Brady shocked the world and announced his retirement for good from the NFL.

Brady outlines broadcasting plans

The former New England Patriots star said that starting his broadcasting career in 2024 instead of this year is great for him as it takes some time to really learn.

He added that he wants to make sure he doesn’t rush into anything.

"I think when people really bet on me; one thing about my career -- whether it's when I was drafted with the Patriots or signing in free agency with the Bucs -- I want to be fully committed and I never wanted to let people down. I think my biggest motivator was that."

Brady also discussed in the interview how his second retirement announcement unfolded on February 1.

"For me, I know in my heart how I feel. I put it out on the field for 23 years and I'm super proud of what's been accomplished. I just wanted to keep last week really short and sweet.”

He said that he loved his time in football and it is absolutely an incredible love in his life. He added that “it's hard to make decisions like that, but it's certainly the right time."

How much is the Fox deal?

The seven-time NFL champion agreed in May 2022 to join Fox Sports as its lead analyst when his legendary playing career was over, according to ESPN.

Fox did not disclose the parameters of Brady’s deal, but the New York Post reported that the contract was for 10 years and $375 million. That is the most lucrative deal in the history of sports broadcasting.

Brady retires for second time

Sports Brief recently reported on Brady retiring from the NFL. The 45-year-old was emotional as he announced that he was hanging up his gloves for good.

This was the second time that he made a retirement announcement. The five-time Super Bowl MVP did the same in February last year but sensationally performed a U-turn on his decision a month later.

Brady's return did not produce a happy ending, though, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers losing badly to the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL Wild Card Round.
